Woodland Themed Autumnal Wedding | Ruth and Neil

Autumnal Woodland Wonderland

This Autumnal wedding was inspired by the beauty of Scotland in Autumn. Ruth’s love of flowers was brought to life with Incredible wild, romantic florals by Myrtle and Bracken. Including ceremony tree installation and stunning bouquets.

They chose to have their wedding at Cambo Estate near St Andrews. Centred around this incredible Victorian Mansion house. The surroundings are just incredible and the perfect place to share the beauty of Scotland in Autumn.

Ruth and Neil opted to have their reception in a marquee nestled in the woodland area. The marquee had clear sides so they could really get the feeling of being amongst the woodland. As the light dipped low it looked magical, enhanced by the twinkling fairy light tunnel, a true woodland wonderland.

The Ceremony

Their ceremony was amazing. Their friend Lucy performed the ceremony as they were already legally married before their wedding. This is quite common for many reasons, but actually it really allows you to be completely free with your ceremony choices. You don’t have to worry about the legalities of it all. No necessary wording. Your ceremony can truly be unique to you with no constrains.

I think the most memorable part of the day was our ceremony. It was probably the one part of the day that I felt truly present and there was a real element of calm and joyful anticipation in the room for what the day held and represented. We wanted to make it as personal as possible so it felt like “us.” Our wonderful friend, Lucy, married us and she was just fantastic. We had two of our very talented friends sing and play guitar as everyone took their seats as well as leading us for a sing-a-long at the beginning of the ceremony! One of Neil‘s groomsmen’s told the story of how we met which drew some laughs and tears, and we also had two readings from other friends which were meaningful song lyrics, and a surprise personalised love story which had everyone laughing.

They also surprised their guests with confetti canons after their vows, it was an incredible, joyful moment of surprise and delight.

An Autumnal Wedding Feast

I’m not one for favourites. However if we were pushed to choose our favourite caterers it would be Bespoke! They catered for our own wedding and believe me they are amazing! The expert team worked incredibly hard to bring Ruth and Neil’s ideas to life, from the amazing cocktails to the incredible sharing platters for their autumnal feast in the woods! The food and drinks were nothing short of amazing and fit with the theme perfectly.

Sam and I loved every minute of this incredible wedding. It was full of love, laughter, dance (oh, so much dancing!). Confetti, gorgeous flowers (yes!) incredible food (and drink!) and all set in stunning Scotland. Can we do it all again, please?
