We absolutely love to photograph weddings at Knockraich Farm – whether that’s in the Tin Shed, the Stone Bothy, or in an outdoor ceremony with the beautiful Stirlingshire landscape as your backdrop! Here’s just a few of the reasons why we think Knockraich is one of the very best wedding venues in Stirlingshire and Fintry, and why we love to get the chance to shoot there!
Embrace the beautiful Stirlingshire landscape
Firstly, there’s the spectacularly beautiful Stirlingshire landscape. Situated in the heart of Endrick Valley, Knockraich is amidst the rolling hills of the Campsie Fells and on the edge of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. There are spectacular views from the farmland in all directions, with some vantage points looking onto Ben Lomond. And for the truly adventurous, we’re a short 20 minute drive to the Devil’s Pulpit, where there is of course a world famous waterfall popularised in recent years by Outlander.
We’re lucky enough to live in Fintry ourselves, and we got married in the village in 2017. We’re absolutely head over heels for the incredible, rugged landscape – we went trekking to the Loup of Fintry waterfall (from the River Endrick) for our own couples shoot, and you can see some of those images below (by the incredible Blush BYB). At the right time of year, this can be a dramatic backdrop (and a treacherous walk)!
Unique rustic farm interiors
Knockraich Farm also has beautiful, tasteful and understated textures throughout the two main interiors that you’d use for a wedding (the Tin Shed and the Stone Bothy). It’s a really good mix of rustic character and agnostic, blank canvas versatility. As you can see, different styling approaches give the venue a totally different feel, so despite its unique character, it doesn’t have an overly imposing aesthetic.

You can be totally creative with catering
Knockraich is of course a venue that allows outside caterers, which means you can really get creative and specific with your menu! We’ve shot beautiful weddings there with wonderful food provided by the likes of Lazy Sunday Catering, Wild Rover Catering, and our own wedding caterers, Bespoke Catering – and we’ve also tucked into canapes by The Oysterman Events, and personalised beers created just for the couple by Stewart Brewing Co. These things are possible because the venue allows for a total versatility of options that’s usually hard to replicate in a venue with in-house catering.
Accommodation for wedding venue in Fintry, Stirlingshire
There are some beautiful places to stay in and around Knockraich Farm that we’d recommend. That’s starting with the venue itself, since Knockraich has a couple of beautiful apartments in the Courtyard where many of our couples get ready on the morning of the wedding.
There’s also the fantastic Three Berries Cottage, two minutes away from the venue, which sleeps four people. Every couple whose images appear in this blog made use of the Three Berries Cottage – it’s a perfect solution for staying near the venue.

One of the best barn wedding venues in Scotland, feat. the Tin Shed, the Stone Bothy, the Orchard, and the Courtyard Cafe and Apartments
So there’s a few different areas at Knockraich that are worth considering for your wedding – there’s the Courtyard Cafe and apartments, as well as the Orchard and Kitchen Gardens, and the expansive hilly fields. But for your wedding, the two main areas you’ll probably use are the Tin Shed, and the Stone Bothy.
The Tin Shed
The Tin Shed seats 100 people for dinner and can accommodate 120 for an evening reception. It’s a spacious and comfortable barn, and allows for live music without a noise limiter due to the remote location. It’s the big, rustic industrial-feel barn that you’ll have seen throughout this blog.
The Stone Bothy
Like the Tin Shed, the Stone Bothy’s clue is in the title. It’s a beautiful, intimate space full of white painted stone, perfect for an intimate ceremony and as a rainy day option if you’re otherwise planning on an outdoor ceremony.
Cat and Euan had a beautiful, totally unique wedding ceremony in the Stone Bothy, then a reception in the Tin Shed – see it here!
