Melrose Abbey is the most beautiful ruined monastery and a stunning location for an outdoor wedding ceremony. The scale of it is incredible and takes your breath away. It somehow seems even more incredible as a ruin, open to the elements with blue sky above.
Vicky and Alex had the most wonderful spring wedding in Melrose in the Scottish Borders. Their religious ceremony at the Abbey was taken by Vicky and Alex’s friend Dave, and was incredibly personal to them. The majesty of the Abbey ruins made their Melrose Abbey wedding ceremony feel grand yet somehow very intimate.
After the beautiful wedding ceremony we took some family portraits amongst the Abbey ruins, and then some couple portraits of Victoria and Alex. Victoria looked incredible, and effortlessly regal in her backless wedding dress. It really suited the look at feel of their Melrose Abbey Wedding.
We then took a short walk down the street to another beautiful location, Harmony House for the wedding reception where their wedding guests were waiting. The marquee was set amongst the beautiful gardens of the restored regency town house where a few guests can stay overnight for the ultimate house party feel. The gardens are stunning and were in full bloom for their spring wedding.
If you’re looking for a relaxed garden party atmosphere for your wedding reception Harmony House is an excellent choice, having the house to stay in too makes it feel like a big house party. There is also the bonus of being so close to Melrose Abbey which makes for an incredible and unique ceremony.
For an extra added bonus we got to see two of our wedding couples there. It’s always so amazing to see past clients at weddings where we’ve been recommended, it makes us feel like part of the family and makes we get to hang out with them again!
Thank you to Vicky and Alex for inviting Sam and I to document your wonderful wedding, Zoë.
