Celestial Wedding Theme for Space Lovers

Where to two self confessed space-geeks get married? The Planetarium of course! Rosie & Rob together with wedding planner extraordinaire Fin Flükra planned an intimate winter celestial wedding to be proud of.

It was a short reception with humanist ceremony in the Planetarium. Yes they actually got married under the stars! The humanist ceremony was late in the afternoon, just as the light was slipping away [read more here on how to plan your ceremony time for your ideal light]. The later ceremony was engineered to take advantage of the dark winter evenings. Giving them the best possible chance of seeing the stars.

Sadly the Scottish weather didn’t play ball, and provided us with a foggy wet evening instead. We took advantage none-the-less and captured some misty, moody evening portraits with the last of the fading light (it was very dark!).

if not to feel stars
exploding in our veins”

Despite the lack of stars an expert astronomer was on hand to give their guests a tour of the observatory. Showing them the 20″ Telescope and a virtual tour of the nights sky in the planetarium. I had planned to take some evening portraits with the stars. So instead I created some double exposure portraits in the Planetarium which you can see at the end of this post.

Celestial wedding details

Having a small, intimate wedding doesn’t mean you have to skimp on the details. In fact it’s quite the opposite. Rosie and Rob’s wedding was full of unique details. Reflecting their love of all things space! Rosie looked incredible in her dark blue celestial wedding dress to fit with the theme. The constellation print even glowed in the dark! so awesome! She teamed the dress with faux fur shrug, cuffs and a paper flower bouquet by paper bouquets UK.

Harpist Sarah MacNeil played during the humanist ceremony by Kathryn Ross. And again throughout the short reception. Which provided a mystical ambiance whilst guest enjoyed the hot buffet.

It was an absolute joy to work alongside Cat from Fink Flükra again. [we worked together for Jasmin and Dave’s Knockraich Wedding]. She’s a little like a wedding superhero. Swooping in and taking care of everything! With Cat’s help, Rosie & Rob managed to create something magical and unique to them. Completely taking the stress out of the planning.

Thank you Rosie & Rob for inviting me to share your amazing day with you both! and to Cat for making everything run smoothly from booking to on the day.
